There’s nothing better than camping out and listening to bands with fellow festivalers. So, to follow on from the beauty tips from Latitude festival, here’s some advice on getting over the festival blues with a simple post-festival skincare routine.
Once the music stops, the lack of sleep, hydration and showers can wreak havoc on even the most perfect skin. Especially for those that have left make-up on or decided that a rainy festival can be a perfect opportunity for a natural mud mask.
To stop the festival leaving you with unnecessary acne or blocked pores, simply follow this easy step-by-step guide.
It will clear away the weekend’s dirt and leave your face feeling as fresh as a daisy.
1. The first step is removing the weekend’s make-up and mud; use a deep cleanser, some cotton wool and warm water. The water will open your pores for a deep clean; however, make sure it is not too hot as that will aggravate your skin.
2. Exfoliate to remove dead skin cells and deeply embedded dirt especially around the nose. An exfoliating scrub will be perfect for this. Massage the beads gently in a small circular motion as this will increase the blood flow around your face and restore your natural glow.
If you’ve had a bit too much sun, your skin will be particularly sensitive, so take extra care with exfoliators and scrubs.
3. After you have washed off the scrub with warm water, apply a hydrating face mask. Regardless of your skin type, face masks are a great opportunity to truly relax. A hydrating face mask helps revitalise worn out skin and replace any lost moisture.
4. Once the mask is ready to peel away, gently remove it, making sure you dab away any excess using water and a damp towel. Avoid wiping your face dry with a scratchy towel, as this damages delicate skin.
Cold water acts as a great toner by closing your pores and restoring the natural Ph levels to your skin. Splashing your face with cold water will remove the last of the impurities and leave it feeling fresh.
5. Time for moisturiser to hydrate your skin, leaving it supple and healthy. Try to do this within two or three minutes of splashing your face with water, as it will help to lock in as much moisture as possible.
So, although the fun of the festival may be over, you can at least slip back into the real world with your face glowing and head held high.
